ALBINO AFRICAN REBORN BABY "TANZANIA" from LI sculpted by Priscila Lopes.
Ltd Ed COA 195 / 1500
TANZANIA is an african albino reborn baby girl belonging to my art dolls serie “Embracing the difference”
I have choosen this significative name becouse in places like Tanzania, the challenges for people born with albinism are unimaginable.
There is an African superstition that albino people are not truly human, many believe that they are demons or ghosts, that albinos are inmortal and their bodies contain magic healing properties. Local superstitions and traditions provoke attacks on people with albinism, whose limbs and body parts are sold for witchcraft practices with the belief that brings luck and sucess. All these made that clients are willing to pay high prices for albino body parts. Albino are so valuable, that even exhume buried bodies whenever an albino dies. Bounty hunters kill, mutilate and selling albino body parts to make rich, without remorse.
It is difficult to imagine how anyone could be so cruel to a child.Hundreds of Tanzania children have suffered mutilations and are waiting for prosthetics donated from overseas charity organizations.
The destiny of african albino children is condenated to discrimination, segregation, poverty, persecution, kidnapped, raped, AIDS, mutilation for profit and even death. Life as albino in some countries of Africa is terrifying, desolate.
Added to this dramatic situation are the health problems caused by albinism that condition their lives becouse their bodies do not produce melanin and their skin have no pigmentation and no natural protection from the sun. African albinos typically form skin tumors on their faces and necks that can become massive and leads to an early death if they dont receive a proper medical treatment.
In adition, african albino people suffer poor eyesight and many of them are nearly blind. This makes difficult for them to receive a good education to escape poverty in the future.
TANZANIA´s DESCRIPTION
Please keep in mind that Tanzania is not a toy. My art dolls are not suitable for childrens and have to be handle with care
PAINTING:
Tanzania is a delicate whitterfly painted with Genesis Heat Paints. I always work for the best and natural result in my ethnic and albino babies. My angelic Tanzania is delicatly painted complexion with slight mottling, capillaries, translucent veining, birth marks, rash, capillaires, beauty moles, scratches, wet areas... And every details has been shaded and bright places. The finish is a varnish protection and a texture medium to increase real skin appearence. A complex set of nuances that print realism to her skin. Her nostrils have been shaded.
Painting Effects:
* Birth effect of upper front teeth
* Hyperpigmentation
- Café au lait skin macules
- 3D painted effect congenital pigmented nevus
* Beauty Moles
- Freckles mottling several areas specially on the scalp to print realism and volumes.
Freckels and moles have been work in different layers, color, volumes, shapes stages of birth and growth to build a 3D ilussion
GENDER FEMALE TUMMY PLATE:
I created a cute and strong front tummy plate from a full torso. In this way it has more realistic volumes and strengh necesary for this baby size. The most of the time, the standar tummy plates for 23 inches babies are very flimsy and it cracked during baking, even if you protect and reinforce them. So in this case I opted to cut a full torso to get the front part and I really love its volumes and proportion.
HAIR: 3D handpainted afro albino hair worked in laborious several layers, tones, shapes, density to recreate the growth of baby afro hair contrasting thicker and sparce areas to print a funny shaven hair effect.
EYELASHES: Top quality Susan Nagel mohair and double sealed.
EYEBROWS: hand painted
FILLING:
Tanzania has been weighted with high-quality and non-toxic materials: glass beads, polly pellet and premium silicone fiber fill. I only use high quality products to create my babies.
